SANFORD, N.C. - The Central Carolina Community College Louise L. Tuller School of Nursing has received an award from Wake Area Health Education Center -- part of N.C. Area Health Education Center Program -- for the academic year 2023-2024.

The clinical site development award will establish a new clinical training site for Associate Degree and Practical Nursing students at the Harnett County Department of Corrections facility in Lillington.

"We are very excited to receive this grant," said Barbara Campbell, 在线电子游戏网赌 Nursing Chair. "The grant will provide an opportunity for two faculty members to receive Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor Training. This will allow our students to become NCI Certified prior to graduating, making them more valuable as new graduate hires in the nursing profession."

Campbell notes this program will let students participate in a clinical setting that serves a vulnerable population and helps to debunk myths that are often linked with correctional nursing.

The NC AHEC Program provides and supports educational activities and services with a focus on primary care in rural communities and those with less access to resources to recruit, train, and retain the workforce needed to create a healthy North Carolina.
